Ipod problems - synchronizing with Windows Media

I just bought my 4G Ipod mini. I installed the software, and plugged into my USB port. I tried synchronizing all the songs from my Windows Media (10) into my Ipod. When i went to the songs tab, it showed nothing; however, it still shows my ipod having 1.53 gigs of space filled. I moved the songs to Itunes, and now they show up on the ipod just fine - its just that i now have double the space because of these "invisible" songs. Any help on deleting these ghosts? Nothing too dangerous, just taking up space.

In my opinion, you should dump WMP and I-Tunes for Ipod management, and use Ephpod - http://www.ephpod.com/

I-tunes has poor functionality and to many things are automatic and WMP just isnt cut-out for the job.

try enabling your ipod to use as disk space (go to the ipod icon in itunes and make sure there is a check in that box) . then go to "my computer" and click on the ipod icon. you may be able to erase those ghosts in there.
